Education

^{Mr. Siirtola obtained his J.D. from University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts in History at Cornell College, magna cum laude and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.}

National Award

Mr. Siirtola is a contributing member of the National College for DUI Defense, Inc.and received a Sustaining Membership Award from his colleagues in that national organization in 2004.

Continuing Legal Education

^{Jeffrey attends an average of thirty hours of continuing legal education in the area ofdriving under the influence/criminal defense each year, including in-state annual DUIseminar taught by AACJ; and national programs, including NCDD Summer Sessions taught at Harvard Law School; and NCDD Winter College programs taught in a variety of locations, including the Bahamas; Hawaii; Texas; California; and Mississippi.}

Technical Training/Credentials

^{Mr. Siirtola has more technical training in how to conduct a DUI stop and investigation than most police and law enforcement officers. He is one of a small number of attorneys certified as an operator having completed Breath Alcohol Training (BAT) training on the Intoxilyzer 8000 and the Intoxilyzer 5000; and is a quality assurance specialist for the Intoxilyzer 5000.}

^{He is also certified as a practitioner for National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)/ International Association Chiefs of Police (IACP) for standardized field sobriety tests, including the horizontal gaze nystagmus test; the walk and turn; the one leg stand; and the PBT or portable hand-held breath testing machine.}

^{Mr. Siirtola is also certified as a phlebotomist for blood draw issues; and was recently certified as a law enforcement instructor for all SFST’s or standardized field sobriety tests.}

^{Mr. Siirtola wrote an article “Traffic Stops of the Hispanic Accused” for the Defender, amagazine published for criminal defense lawyers in Arizona. He also contributed toan article published in August 6, 2007 ‘Future Jurors May Need Interpreters,’ in the National Law Journal. He also published a small book for his clients and writtenfor the non-lawyer regarding DUI defenses.}
